ECOWATERBOXX

The System

The Ecowaterboxx system consists of separate polypropylene blocks (90x60x45 cm) with a honeycomb structure, wrapped in waterproof liner. The Ecowaterboxxes may be coupled without limit, both in length and depth, depending on the required water volume to be stored. Special Ecowaterboxxes support the supply and drain off pipes through the system.

Material

The Ecowaterboxx is made of polypropylene. This synthetic material is non-perishable in a dark environment (i.e. in the ground). Polypropylene also does not leach chemicals into the water, is 100% recyclable and has a substantial residual value.

Method

Installing the Ecowaterboxx system is very simple. The complex of coupled boxes is buried in the ground, creating a hollow space under the surface.

Once the required amount of soil has been excavated and the foundation has been levelled, the protective cloth and liner is laid out.The Ecowaterboxxes can then be put in to place. When all the units have been put in place the liner is folded over the installation and, if needed, welded together.

The Ecowaterboxx system can be covered with a layer of soil, a concrete floor or a hydroponics system. The Ecowaterboxx system creates a stable foundation with a pressure rating of up to 200 kN/m2 without any further modification as far as the construction is concerned. The ground in which the Ecowaterboxx system has been installed makes an excellent foundation for a carpark or road section, it may also be used for a work room, driveway or production floor.

Applications

The patented Ecowaterboxx was originally used in roadbuilding, specifically in rainwater filtration systems. The storage of rainwater is not the only conceivable application of the Ecowaterboxx, warm and cold water storage are possibilities too. The Ecowaterboxx with its huge internal surface is also often used in industrial cooling towers and water treatment plants.

Structure

The Honeycomb structure gives an optimal volume-strength ratio to the material. It is no wonder that this structure often occurs in nature. The Ecowaterboxx has an extremely efficient usable volume of at least 94%, providing a high storage capacity using a minimal amount of material. At the same time the wire-netting structure enables large quantities of water to be supplied to, or drained off, the system within a short time.
